This minimally invasive technique promotes the production of collagen and elastin to give your skin a dewy, even, healthy glow. At Desert Sage Dermatology, we use the Skinpen®, which works to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin that trigger the skin’s repair process to naturally produce collagen and elastin. This treatment is safe for all Fitzpatricks skin types with minimal downtime.

What should I expect immediately after Skinpen® microneedling?
Downtime is minimal. You can expect to experience effects similar to mild sunburn after the procedure, such as redness, tenderness, and some swelling. Despite that, there is no significant downtime after a SkinPen® procedure. Patients can return to normal activities and conceal most of the mild side effects with make-up after just one day.
Is this treatment comfortable?
Very comfortable. We apply a topical numbing cream prior to your treatment so that the treatment is pain free. Bring a book, your Ipad, or take a nap while you relax and numb up prior to your treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
Although you will see improvement with 1 treatment we do recommend it in a series of 3 treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart for optimal results.
